Alternate ending - The Maze of the Beast

''...Nak and Finn were caught in the blowhole as the water was about to blow..''

''I didn't come this far into this stupid cave for nothing!'' Finn yelled as he lunged forward for his life and clutched onto Lief's leg. ''Let go if you don't want to get stabbed!'' Lief cried.
''Never! I don't care about what happens to me as long as you die!'' Finn shouted over the rumbling of the blowhole as he reached for his sword. Before he could, Jasmine hauled Lief up through the small gap, forcing Finn to let go. ''NOO!'' he cried as he plummeted down to the blowhole. The rumbling got louder. ''Run!'' Nak yelled as she began to run away. Too late. The blowhole exploded and water gushed into the hole, swirling them like crabs caught in a tidal wave. Then with an awful sucking sound, they were taken back into the lair of the Glus.

The companions gathered up their belongings and began heading away from the pirate's cave. Without warning, Dain sprung from a bush and began running for them. ''Dain! How did you get here? How did you know we were here?'' Barda cried with joy. But Dain had no smile on his face; it was almost as if he was crying. ''I'm so sorry!'' Dain cried. A scream filled the forest as a long, silver sword pierced Jasmine's stomach. ''DAIN!'' Barda and Lief gasped as they caught Jasmine's body. Her groans were agonising. ''Look, I know you've helped me a lot, but I have to follow Doom's orders'', he replied calmly and disappeared into the forest. Lief and Barda sat there like stunned mullets, Jasmine slowly dying away.

''I can't believe he betrayed us for Doom!'' Lief cried with fury.
''I don't think he was doing it for Doom'' Barda said pointing to Lief's waist.
''The belt! It's gone!'' Lief scanned the area before realising what had happened. ''Why would Dain want the belt for himself?''
''He must be up to something...'' Barda said with worry. A low groan brought them back to Jasmine.
''She's getting weaker and weaker every second'' Lief said. '' I don't think we can save her''. Although he knew he mustn't give up on Jasmine, Barda, reluctantly, agreed and softly laid her on the sand. They began heading to the Valley of the Lost, to find Dain and retrieve the Belt of Deltora.
